FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 10 OCTOBER 2023 — The full cast of Metaverse of Magic, a major new theatrical production combining spectacular magic, breathtaking illusions, stunning stagecraft and cutting-edge technology, have been revealed. Metaverse of Magic is touring to Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane from November 2023 – January 2024.
Metaverse of Magic brings together the most renowned magicians from around the globe including Japan, Taiwan, the Netherlands and New Zealand as well as online sensation Ash Hodgkinson aka Ash Magic as Lenoxx and Erin Bruce as DIGI.
The production features a hand-picked variety of some of the world’s best magicians, entertainers and large-scale illusionists including: Tokyo’s Hara Hiroki who featured on the BBC series The Magicians and America’s Got Talent, past recipient of the World Champion of Card Magic award Taiwan’s Horret Wu, Jarred Fell from New Zealand, Australia’s own Charli Ashby plus Sabine van Diemen from The Netherlands.
Charli Ashby, originally from New Zealand but now based in Australia, has performed at the Adelaide Festival Theatre, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Sydney Opera House as well as across China and Japan, and specialises in large scale, close up and classic magic.
Hara Haroki, from Tokyo, has featured in the BBC series The Magicians as well as America’s Got Talent, where he received a standing ovation from judges and the audience with his act that combines futuristic technology and classic magic. He has also performed at Las Vegas’ famed Magic Castle and his magician’s journey was made into a documentary called Make Believe which won awards at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Jarred Fell from New Zealand is a comedic magician who has been performing magic since the age of 11. He has won numerous awards in New Zealand and has starred in the hit NBC show Bring the Funny as well as countless comedy galas in New Zealand. He has also headlined and performed at The Tropicana in Las Vegas and featured at iconic comedy clubs in Hollywood including The Improv, The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. He has also performed for celebrities including Jack Black, Chrissy Teigan and John Legend.
Described as “one of the most extraordinary and talented performers in magic”, Sabine van Diemen is from Amsterdam and has been working in magic for over 10 years including with master magician Hans Klok and won the Silver Clown at the Circus Festival in Monte Carlo. She starred in the London West End show Impossible, toured through America, Canada and Mexico with The Illusionists Live From Broadway and is one of the four horsemen in Now You See Me Live. She has starred in several TV shows including Saturday Night Live, Holland’s Got Talent and Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde and in 2021 she was awarded the prestigious Mandrake d’Or Award in Paris.
Horret Wu was originally known as an underground sleight of hand artist from Taiwan, participating in and winning magic competitions all over Asia. In 2015, he won 1st prize in the
FISM World Championship of Magic leading to a variety of TV shows, festivals and theatre performances.
Ash Hodgkinson aka Ash Magic is an Australian magician, actor and entertainer who has amassed an extraordinary 10 million followers on Tik Tok, close to 2.9 million followers on YouTube and close to 200,000 million likes for his videos that have been viewed over three billion times. In 2021, Ash starred as Henry Harrod in the Australian drama series RFDS and in 2022 Ash also featured in Heartbreak High as Ben.
Sydney based actor, singer and dancer Erin Bruce is playing the part of DIGI, Digital Interactive Gaming Instructor, an artificial consciousness bridging our world and the Metaverse. Her stage credits include the National Tour of Mr Stink (CDP Theatre) & Room on The Broom (CDP Theatre), Marion in Priscilla – Queen of the Desert (Lunchbox Prod & NCL Productions), Hot Shoe Shuffle (Birdie Productions), Showdown & Shout! The Mod Musical (NCL Productions). For TV, Home and Away (Seven Network) and Les Norton (ABC).
Rounding up the Metaverse of Magic cast include dancers Bronte Carrington, Damon Wilson, Max Simmons, Mei Yamada and Tim Mason.
